AERO INDIA 2009
( 7th Aero India; 11-15th Feb, 2009)

The Aero India 2009 just got over. This show is considered to be one of the largest Air Shows of South Asia . Aero India was started in 1996 by the ministry of defence and is managed by Confederation of Indian Industry
(CII). Aero India is the best place to ......observe, practice and promote the latest products, services and technologies of the aviation industry to the international professional audience. It is an Asia’s premier biennial air show held at Yelahanka Air Force station in Bangalore. There was also displays and exhibitions of military and civil aircrafts of leading manufactures, vendors and suppliers. Various aircrafts of Indian Air Force were also displayed in this show.

As the modernization of Indian Armed Forces and with also enormous new opportunities in the civil aviation sector ,this
opened innumerable new avenues for investments. Aero India 2009 provides an ideal window of opportunity for companies to not only network with the Indian Industry but also to benefit from the sharing of expertise in the fields of R & D production and product support with other global players. Aero India 2009 showcases the latest in the field of Military and Civil aircrafts, vital components for aircraft engines, avionics systems & sub systems, airfield radars and new age technologies used in the defence sector.

Notes from the Press:

* 'The world is looking at India with a different perspective. Despite the financial down slide the defence, aerospace, industries, will continue to bloom,' said Air Chief F H Major at a press conference held as a part of the Aero India Show 2009 in Bangalore.

* Many a spectator finds air shows an exhilarating form of entertainment that straddles the thin line between life and death.

Mystery of the Stone Circle

The history and the archeology always leave me stunned. The creations in the ancient times, without the huge machines and cranes, always have put to me in the thought of how actually these colossal structures were built and what was the basic purpose of building them.

Adding to the already made discoveries, another stone carving was revealed on Roach Ridge (place not sure). Until a couple of years ago it was hidden under a blanket of heather, but the wind blew the growth back and the carving was rediscovered in 2004. The carving is very close to the edge of a cliff and consists of an area about 3 meters by 2 meters which has been leveled. A 36inch diameter circle has been carved in the middle of the leveled area.

Assumptions:

-->> Stoke Archaeology Society have put forward the idea that this is perhaps a mill-stone in the making. To release the stone the mason would have to cut out underneath. It seems a pretty inaccessible place to fashion a millstone being almost as high as you can go and part made mill-stones can be found in the quarries much further down the valley. These mill-stones are made from boulders which seems to be a much less arduous and obvious way of making them.

-->> Archeologists John Barnett and Adam Russell - the former of the Peak Park, are pretty sure the stone carving pictured is not a mill-stone in the making but is possibly where a Victorian telescope was mounted.

So if nothing was known in living memory in 1874 of the origins of the carving then this puts the origin at least a lifetime earlier perhaps more, i.e to before 1800. Telescopes were around in the 1700's so it could still be a telescope mounting, however it is unlikely to be Victorian.

This is taken from an article and I really don't know how far is it true. But, knowing about this magnificent structure my research is in full swing and will update this with any further discovery.

Priceless....

Last year, my course mates and few other friends started a group which helped the poor, orphans, the handicapped and on. Our group is linked with the “Concern India Foundation” in Hyderabad. At the first go of the club I did not show much of interest as I assumed its going to be a fall. Generally, students create a donation box in some name or other and they either loose interest or forget to continue and in some cases even cheat! I too was in the same impression. But, gradually my point of view changed as we all started working on the presentations, seminars for the promotion of the club in our college. Students showed lot of interest and even came forward to extend their helping hand to us.
The collection of funds started and the consciousness of responsibility struck me. I was one of the treasurers and had to safe guard the money given by the people with love. We received more than we had expected from the students but this still wasn’t sufficient. We had to collect an amount to help a child with his studies. We still had to reach the goal!
Days passed by, weeks also passed by. We all were dormant for quite some time. Then suddenly one fine day, we all agreed to a plan regarding our club. We all planned to put up a snack fest in our college premises. The plan was turned into the action the very next day. All of us were in full swing preparing for the fest!! On the day of the fest we all were very excited, helping each other, cracking jokes, bunked classes for the arrangements, humming tunes and even screaming n shouting at each other!!
The selling of snacks started and also sold out. We were very exhausted and tired. The money counting began and we were too much of pessimist and hence did not expect much. But our hard work paid off. The snack fest was a great success!! We got a nice handsome profit. There was a cheerful, satisfied and bright smile on each one of us.
After all this was done, I stood there talking all to myself. I was so very happy and so very delighted. I was one of the helping hands to support a child who was in need.
I now accept as truth that each one of us, at least once in a life’s time should help with one’s own effort. It surely brings a smile on their face as well as on our face too…. which does last forever!!!
